Olga Neuwirth – Goodnight Mommy
This CD presents the original soundtrack of a horror movie “Goodnight Mommy” where “twin boys play a dangerous game of make-believe that blurs the line between nightmare and reality as they start to doubt whether their mother, recovering from cosmetic surgery, is really who she says she is”. The editors states “The soundtrack itself can be heard as one nightmarish listening journey through mistrust, anger and alienation”.
The cast: Vienna Glass Armonica Duo – Heinz Ditsch, Musical Saw –
All other instruments played by Olga Neuwirth.
This CD presents the original tracks, since it seems they had been quite transformed and cut for the movie’s soundtrack (which had been viewed millions times on Youtube says the editor, but it doesn’t seem available anymore). Here is the trailer:
A rather scary and strange music, mainly with the Glass harmonica duo and prerecorded instruments (piano, voices…). There are somme music quotes, for example one of the pieces quotes a Schubert’s Psalm. A “nightmarish listening journey through mistrust, anger and alienation”. See Kairos website.
Here is a video of the Vienna Glass Armonica Duo. It appears many people know the “Pink Panther” tune came from Mozart’s Adagio for Glass harmonica (see around 5′)…
