« On-line music journalism » allows to meet rich and rare musical personalities, but is also frustrating because we would like to « steal » more time and share more on music around a piano, a CD or a glass… This was the case in mid-June with Erlendsdóttir Edda, of Icelandic origin, a young grandmother pianist – if I mention this is that you feel to be in front of a still young artist! We hurry to write this paper because she leaves Paris to join her homeland and her son for 2 months, including a CPE Bach and Haydn concert on July 1. Her répertoire focuses on 3 areas: classical music (CPE Bach, Haydn), « northern » music: Grieg, Tchaikovsky and « modern » music of the second Viennese school to Murail for example. She has a light but long lasting charm, as for her performances: the CDs she has kindly given me: Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach and Joseph Haydn, confirm the impression that left me her recent CD Schubert / Schoenberg / Berg: we find it without much relief at first, and after a few minutes, hermusicality takes us by the hand and never let you go. Carrier Having been a lecturer for 11 years at the Conservatoire National de Lyon, Marie-Françoise Bucquet encouraged her to pass the « CA » (Certificate of Aptitude); she then postulated a post at the Conservatory of Versailles, where she was chosen among 80 candidates… Professorate She is clearly passionate about this job. She has in Versailles twenty students from 8 to 23 years, from level 1 to development level and is very proud that one of her students, Yun Qiu Wu, was the winner of the competition « Virtuosi of the heart » this year. Repertoire Her repertoire ranges from early works for piano to contemporary music with a predilection for CPE Bach, Haydn, Schubert, Schumann, Liszt, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Ravel, Schoenberg and Berg. She created contemporary works including several written for her. Discs Scalded by publishers who, having disappeared, had almost made her lose some early recordings, she started et be her own producerwith the label ERMA (Erlendsdóttir / MANOURY, Olivier, her husband’s brother Philippe Manoury). Pantheon She likes to quote from her favorite pianists Brendel immediately and then Richter, Gilels, Cortot, two othes she met in Iceland: Serkin and Kempff and also Ciccolini, Angelich Argerich and the young Russian Andrei Korobeinikov. She will give a recital in Paris on 5 October, and in February 2015 at the Contemporary Music Festival in Reykjavik « Dark music days« : Debussy, Messiaen, Dutilleux, Murail, but we’ll talk about them later.
